Chevy just released the pricing of its insane new Vette, and it’s not as awful as we thought.

It’s no secret that us grease monkeys here are Maxim are a little obsessed with the new Corvette Stingray. Not only is the seventh edition of the iconic American supercar arguably the best looking yet, but it’s also, without question, the most powerful. Its base engine, you see, is a beautiful 6.2-liter V8 that churns out 450 horsepower and a matching 450 lb-ft of torque. (We’re guessing this should move the beast from zero to 60 mph in under four seconds.) That’s why we’re very impressed that Chevrolet is offering the coupe at a starting retail price of $51,995, and the convertible at $56,995. When you consider this is around the same price as a loaded-up baby Lexus (or half of a Porsche 911), it’s kinda sorta a pretty good deal. As Chevy’s Chris Perry puts it, “The Stingray delivers a combination of performance, design, and technology that very few manufacturers can match, and none can even come close for $52,000.” That’s a fact, so put in a call to your loan officer now if you want to be the first on your block with the sickest American car in a decade.
