Big Upset – Detroit over Philadelphia

All of a sudden, the Lions find themselves on top of the division in week 14, and the sleeping beast inside a surprisingly explosive Lions team may have been poked. After this game they get the Ravens, Vikings, and Giants, weighing in at a big-time 14-21-1. If you don’t think Jim Schwartz is calling this a must-win, it’s probably time to pack up that cheese-head and go home.

Big Performance – Ray Rice

One could say that the bowling ball-esque back has had a disappointing season thus far. In fact, one could say that most of his fantasy owners probably have his face pinned to their dartboards, at the very least. But the Vikings are rocking a pretty dismal defense, so if Rice’s diminished explosiveness can get him into the secondary, it’s very likely that he’ll have a game that will have those very same fantasy owners at his feet. Just in time to disappoint in the playoffs, of course.

Big Flop – Case Keenum

This Texan young gun blew the myth that a QB is only as good or bad as his matchup right the hell out of the water by standing toe-to-toe with elder statesman Tom Brady on Sunday. Reverse logic proves that he’ll have a big letdown on short rest, against a Jags defense that previously held them to 6. You’ll just have to assume this is true since nobody will be watching it (see last item).

Big Storyline – Where have all the QBs gone?

With the BLOCKBUSTER announcement that the Browns have signed Caleb Hanie comes even more mediocrity under center in the NFL. Not only do we have to deal with a Matt McGloin-Geno Smith matchup this Sunday at 1, we’ll also have to hate-watch our way through a Kellen Clemens-Carson Palmer afternoon game. Set us free, Teddy Bridgewater, set us free!

Big Stinker – Texans at Jaguars

Go about you’re normal Thursday night, folks. Just the battle for the first pick of the draft, nothing to see here.
