If there's one thing you can count on from this column, it's Sam Cassell forehead jokes. But there are also those special occasions when something worth reading dribbles into the Ulane, and when PlayStation hooked me up with one-on-one time next to LeBron James, I couldn't say, "No." (But I could say, "Will there be a buffet spread?") Luckily, there was, which meant I got to sit down with the King as he practiced for the Skills Challenge with
NBA '06. (And if you think his answers are a bit terse, you try getting a 21-year-old's attention when he's got a PSP in front of him.)
Have you ever seen your player in NBA '06 do anything you can't do?
Um
no. Everything they show me doing, I can pretty much do.
Who's the toughest one-on-one match up in the league right now?
Paul Pierce, Kobe Bryant, and Tracy McGrady.
Who do you think the best dunker in the league is right now?
Josh Smith and Amare Stoudemire.
Who's got the worst hair in the league?
Anderson Varejao.
Who's the best ever: Magic, Larry or Michael?
Michael.
Show us your best dunk face.
I don't have one. I'm very nonchalant about dunking.
Who's your favorite LeBron from the commercial?
Wise, 'cause he can do anything and not get in trouble.
Do you think your going to win the Skills Challenge?
Of courseI'm the King.
Well, he may be able to shoot, pass, and advertise, but apparently the King can't see the future. LeBron finished second in the Skills Challengehaving to settle instead for the All-Star Game MVP award.
Check back in later this week for comprehensive video coverage (read: under two minutes) from All-Star Weekend 2006 in Houston.
