I love watching the players shake hands after a hard fought series too. My favorite part is always when the two goalies shake hands.

Ryan, first off I am such a huge fan of you and the team, and I must personally thank you for sparking a love of hockey that has lead to me joining a beginner adult league where I live. I have a question regarding the outdoor game on January 1st. I drove 6 hours to see the game, I had a great time and the weather could not have been better. There have been rumors circling around that there could be another outdoor game in the works for next year. Though the Winter Classic game was amazing, and reminded a lot of casual viewers why they loved hockey in the first place, could another one be too much? Is the NHL pushing their luck by possibly making this a yearly tradition? Buffalo got lucky that the weather held up, but the very next week the temperature was in the 50's. A big event getting canceled due to melting ice could be damaging, but is it worth the risk due to the overwhelmingly positive response to the New Year's game? P.S, thanks for writing this blog. After following the Sabres

Hey Ryan..was wondering how you felt about which kind of backup goalie you prefer. A veteran with playoff experience who is guaranteed to give you a break while being able to get some wins, or a younger guy you could mentor? Is there more pressure to step up your game either way?

Ryan,
Dan Paille, Clarke MacArthur and Pat Kaleta grew up before our eyes this past season. Much the same way that Goose, Pommer, and Roy had in the recent past.
How proud of these guys are you?

Ryan,
First Off, Thank you for the blog and your insights. And, as a huge fan of the Sabres, thank you for being our go-to-guy in Buffalo. You are by far the fan favorite and I hope you never leave us!
What do you think about the league altering the schedule so that each team in the league will play each other at least once each season?
Thanks!

Ryan, I hope you,Pominville & the Sabres keep your contract talks completely under wraps till it happens. I felt a big distraction to the team and contributor to their not making the playoffs was the Brian Campbell situation. The best case scenerio for yourself, Pominville and the team is to get it done before the season starts, if possible. With a dependable backup and stronger defensive game, I think you'll be seeing your best year ever and the team should easily be playoff bound. What do you think of Chris Butler? What kept us all going thru the beginning of the playoffs was watching Nathan Gerbe. A dynamic player and the Sabres struck the lottery with him as a 5th round selection. I hope he signs. Lastly, it sounds like you will not be joining team USA, though they need you badly. Any chance? Thank you and good luck in whatever you choose to do.

Speaking of the handshake... How do you feel about Martin Brodeur not shaking Sean Avery's hand? Personally, I think it was a little unsportsmanlike, but they do have a little history between them that stems out farther than Avery's screen.

Ryan, My family and I love the Sabres and you're our favorite player.I know you can't answer this question with 100% accuracy, but do you think you'll be wearing a Sabres uniform after next year? We've lost so much this year, I think if you're gone the heart and soul of the time would be destroyed.

Ryan,
Please stay in Buffalo and sign a huge contract. We need you on this team. Tell dumbass Darcy to get you some defenseman and we'll be a top 5 team once again.

Just want to let you know how much the city of Buffalo appreciates you and the rest of the guys. The Sabes are the backbone of the city and everyone still believes. Can't wait for next season. Show 'em who's boss!

What do you think about the issue of the size of the net v. the size of goaltender equipment? I know this is a big issue for the Competition Committee to discuss, which I'd heard you are going to be a part of and, if you are, good luck!

Ryan,
How concerned are you with the direction the franchise is going? Over the last few seasons, we have seen the departures of Campbell, Drury, Briere, Mckee, Grier, and Dumont. While losing players is a part of today's CBA, replacing the type of players you lose is vital to the success of the franchise. It seems obvious to many diehard fans that management is more concerned with financial stability than winning the Cup. It seems obvious that many of these players not only left for the bigger paychecks that Buffalo refuses to pay, but also because they didn't see a dedication from the front office to winning. What is your take on this situation, and how much insight do you give to management on what you feel the team needs to be able to compete the Cup?

Ryan, what is your opinion of managements direction and decisions regarding many players lost? In your opinion is management at fault for the mistakes they made when dealing with some players, keeping in I know mind we can't keep every player.

Ryan, I grew up watching you play Jr.A in the soo, and was a goalie too, so you have always been an idol of mine. I also went to MSU. I missed you by a couple years but I did get to see your brother play here. Just wondering who your favorite is to bring the cup home. Also, Jeff Stefanski loves you. He is a city commissioner now. Weird, eh?

Ryan, Next time your at the Riv, post it on here, and I'll come buy you a beer. I think you've earned it. Also, with your contract almost up...the 'hawks are going to need some goaltending. Just a little food for thought.

Ryan,
Is it irritating to be hounded about your upcoming contract and/or free agency?
Rest up this summer.

How do you feel about the rotating captaincy? Do you think it's a good idea or do you think having one guy wear the C would lend some stability on and off the ice to a younger team? Thanks for a great year and enjoy your summer.
