On Wednesday night, the Montreal Canadiens came into our nation's capital hoping to end a nightclub-induced tailspin that's threatening to wrap up the franchise's 100th anniversary with a pretty little gift box marked "Guess Who's Not Making the Playoffs This Year?"

Montreal had motivation, intense fan pressure, and pride on their side. Unfortunately, the Washington Capitals had Alex Ovechkin.
