Ron Artest? Michael Vick? Meh. They've got nothing on baseball's lowliest cretins.
5. Pete Rose
An obvious choice, owing to his years of swearing he didn't gamble on baseball… then admitting his misdeeds... then capitalizing on the controversy by selling a book and signing "I'm sorry I bet on baseball" tchotchkes. He drew a 30-day suspension for shoving an ump, spent five months in the pen for tax evasion, ignored his son for years, you name it. No, Rose didn't deserve to be portrayed by Tom Sizemore in the ESPN biopic about his troubles—that's a fate nobody deserves—but in retrospect, only the "hustler" part of his Charlie Hustle persona was truly didactic. On the plus side, he cut a mean Aqua Velva promo.

Can't believe the POS, lying D-Bag Machine, Roger (Needs a Rocket to Russia Up His Ass!) Clemens didn't make your list. That "gentleman's" day is coming. He should have served time for what he did to Piazza alone!

How horrible of all these guys, i can't believe they are allowed to walk freely with all that tax evasion and ignoring of sons. The role models of football and basketball deserve the peace prizes... after all they've only been accused of rape, murder, drug trafficking and dog-beating. Baseball players, the s#$%&@of the earth...

Dont get me wrong.... these guys arent sweethearts and I like the nominees for baseball. But I agree that baseball is by far the lowest of all the sports. You can look at any of the other major sports and look at their top guys and they will dominate any of these guys.
Football - Rae Carruth (killed his pregnant wife)
Basketball - Jason Williams (killed his limo driver)
Hockey - McSorley (bashing a stick upside Donald Brashears head)
Boxing - Tyson (enough said)
Also putting in the Mets is a nice touch... but the 90s Dallas Cowboys could be the same thing... or Bengals of recent years. Those mentioning Barry Bonds? Yeah he lied and was a prick... but not in this argument IMO.
Oh and a write in....
Track and Field - Carl Lewis (when he sang National Anthem)

Never done this before but re: Will Leitch's article on the "Worst 10 Broadcasters in Sports". He forgot to mention Mary Corello and John MacEnroe. Ever listen to them prattle on while a Grand Slam tennis match is being played? They go on and on about the private lives of the players and MacEnroe goes on about all the matches he ever played. Meanwhile the match is played point by point with no comment on how it was played or how the point should have been played. We refreguently turn the sound off. These 2 should be fired or told to describe the match. Dennis Madden never goes on and on about some football players whose mother died when he was 7 years old. Maybe he gets a little boisterous but he describes the game. Ask Mr. Leitch to watch the final Wimbleton Match and listen to these 2 silver tonsiled individuals chatter. Denis Madden is a relief!

Hey Jim De George, though they were both great players on the field, they were complete pricks off the field. Especially Ruth, it's no secret he loved, among other things, Booze, #$%&@s, and lots of food. Were it not for the last one, the Yanks wouldn't even have pinstripes.

To call the 1986 New York Mets "scumbags" is totaly BS. to find true scumbags just look at the Mets counterparts the New York Yankess from the start to present day! They have so many I don't know where to start. They have more scumbags than the combined American and Nationls Leagues combined. END OF STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!
