2009 New York Knicks City Dancers-

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

I audition frequently, keep a motivated and positive attitude, and strive to be the best at what I do. Right now I'm concentrated on being the best Knicks City Dancer I can be. To actually say I'm living a dream is more than amazing, and I couldn't ask for more than this!

What’s the nightlife for you? Stay in and relax, or it’s the weekend, bring back college?

New York City is very fast paced, and I’m always on the go, so I need all the rest I can get! Each day, you have to be prepared, ready to work hard, and give everything you’ve got…or someone else will take your spot. New York is very competitive and I like to be on top of my game as much as I can. This lifestyle doesn't allow much of a nightlife, which I don't really mind. I do believe that quality time with the other ladies on the team, outside of the workplace, is important because we work very hard and deserve some time to hang out and enjoy each other’s company.

What’s the worst dance injury you’ve ever had?

Unfortunately it was just last season that I hurt my knee, and I had to take two months off. Injuries are hard to get through because you want nothing more than to be dancing on court at Madison Square Garden with your teammates. I'm happy to say that I took good care of it, and I'm back, ready to work hard and have a great season.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

It can’t get any better than having the opportunity to dance at Madison Square Garden, The World’s Most Famous Arena. The excitement is overwhelming and it makes the experience of being a Knicks City Dancer an unforgettable one. I never would have thought, three years ago, that I'd be wearing our superhero uniforms and dancing at this arena with such talented young ladies. We love to support our team and set standards as dancers in pro sports. We work so hard, on and off the court, and accept nothing less than the best. We also wouldn't be anything without our devoted fans that come to support us at games and special events.

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

My all-time favorite NBA player would be Penny Hardaway. I was big into basketball when I was younger, and looked up to Penny. He was always shown in a good light, worked extremely hard, and was a great role model for young athletes like myself.

What’s the best and worst thing about being a NBA dancer?

The best thing is performing in front of thousands of fans who can appreciate the dance style and entertainment you bring to them, and being role models for little girls that someday hope to be just as successful with dance as you are. There really is no worst part about being an NBA dancer. It's given me the ultimate experience and I’ve been blessed to perform in front of thousands of people who can appreciate what I bring to the court. Of course, it may be difficult at times juggling my school schedule with games and rehearsals, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world! This is a dream job!

What’s the worst dance injury you’ve ever had?

The worst dance injury I’ve ever had was a stress fracture in my right tibia. The only way to heal it completely was taking a break from dance for at least two months! There’s no telling a dancer to take a break from dancing…it’s our lifestyle.

What’s the nightlife for you? Stay in and relax, or it’s the weekend, bring back college?

The night life always depends on what I’m balancing at the moment. While being a Knicks City Dancer, I'm also a full-time student at Marymount Manhattan College, where I’m majoring in Dance and Business. I mostly spend my free time studying or doing homework, but I can usually never turn down a night of celebrating with my fellow Knicks City Dancers after a game!

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

The New York Knicks are the best team to cheer for because we are located in the heart of New York City. We perform at The World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden! The Knicks City Dancers are here to provide loyal Knicks fans with the ultimate entertainment experience!

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

Well, along with being an NBA dancer I'm also the owner of a dance studio, Dance Factory, in Staten Island. I love that I can expose my students to such a professional atmosphere and teach them, by example, what it takes to be a professional dancer.  My next goal is to help make my students’ dreams come true.

What’s the nightlife for you? Stay in and relax, or it’s the weekend, bring back college?

It really depends on what I have going on that weekend. I like to go out, have fun, and get work off my mind, but I teach every Saturday morning, and going to work without a good night's sleep really isn't fun. I learned that the hard way! I do love going out for dinner and drinks with my girlfriends, so whenever I have the opportunity, I jump on it!

Who’s the hottest on-screen dancer?

I think Kherington Payne in the "Black & Gold" routine from the 2009 movie Fame is one of my favorite on-screen performances. Being a NYC girl and also a graduate from the Performing Arts High School, it makes me really happy to see such a special place get the recognition it deserves.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

There's something special about dancing for a New York team, because there's always a certain electricity in the air, and our fans are the best. Plus, the ladies and I have a great friendship that I love. To be a native New Yorker and dance at The World's Most Famous Arena, with the greatest fans, and the best dancers...it really doesn't get any better than that!

What’s the best and worst thing about being a NBA dancer?

The best thing about being a NBA dancer, aside from the unbelievable feeling of dancing for thousands of people at such a historical arena like Madison Square Garden, is that I'm fortunate enough to make a living doing exactly what I love.

Jock or Nerd. Which one would you really rather settle down with?

I'm more of a jock kind of girl. I need someone to watch football with on Sundays!

When you’re not dancing, where can people find you?

When we have time off, you can find me teaching, choreographing, reading, at the gym, doing a little shopping, with my family or spending time with the girls on the team. I’d have to say that's one of the biggest perks to being a Knicks City Dancer, it comes with a ready-made group of lifelong friends.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

My team is the very best team to dance for because we have the privilege of performing at The World's Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden. New York has the most loyal fans, and the Knicks City Dancers continue to set the standards for professional sports entertainment!

What’s the best and worst thing about being a NBA dancer?

The best thing about being a NBA dancer is that my job is to make people happy and excited to come see us perform, whether it’s on the court, or outside Madison Square Garden. I love dancing and being part of a team, so basically I get to make thousands of people happy by doing what I love! On the flip side, our court rehearsals before the games are no joke. If I could fast forward through that part, it wouldn't be the worst thing, but without the hard work, we wouldn't be such a great dance team!

What’s the worst dance injury you’ve ever had?

There is a toss-up between my two worst dance injuries. The first would be breaking two fingers while prepping for a turn when I was in college. Fingers may be small, but they hurt so bad. The second would be tearing a muscle in my left knee in my first year as a Knicks City Dancer. That injury cost me the second half of my rookie season.

What’s the nightlife for you? Stay in and relax, or it’s the weekend, bring back college?

The nightlife for me is curling up with great food and watching a comedy. I love taking it easy when I get nights off.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

Our team is the best to cheer for because there's always an energy radiating from Madison Square Garden. No matter what is going on, the excitement that our fans give out, you can't find that anywhere else.

What’s the best and worst thing about being a NBA dancer?

The best thing about being a NBA dancer is being paid to do what you love. I actually get paid to dance and entertain fans at Madison Square Garden every week! The worst part, or hardest part I should say, is maintaining 100% perfection. Your routines, technique, costumes, stage presence, and physique need to be dynamite at all times! It's a tough, but rewarding job.

Who’s the hottest on-screen cheerleader?

The hottest on-screen cheerleaders in this instance, are Will Ferrell and Cheri Oteri. I die laughing every time I see them act as the awkward "Spartan" cheerleaders.  Well, maybe they aren't the hottest but they have the most spirit!

When you’re not dancing, where can people find you?

When I'm not dancing, I am probably teaching at Physique 57, a famous ballet barre-inspired workout that is favored by many celebrities such as Kelly Ripa and Christy Turlington. I can also always be found at the gym. I especially love yoga and Pilates because they are two techniques I rely on for strength and flexibility.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

Our team is the best to cheer for because it is a New York City team with New York City pride, and there's nothing like it!

2009 New York Knicks City Dancers-

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

As a professional dancer, my next goal would be to tour as a backup dancer for an artist. I also graduated from Rutgers University with high honors, so eventually I'd love to put all those long study hours to work and become a teacher.

Jock or Nerd. Which one would you really rather settle down with?

A funny, jocky, nerd! I've always strived to be the best in both school and sports, so I would love to settle down with someone who shares similar determinations. I admire anyone who has a passion and is willing to work to be the best. I'm going to settle down with the person who makes me happy and loves me for me.

What’s the craziest thing a fan’s ever done to get your attention? In or out of stadium?

I have an extreme fan, who's absolutely amazing. He took pictures of me for four years at Rutgers football/basketball games, and has now followed my career to the Knicks. I can always count on him yelling my name the loudest in the stands and providing me with some great action shots after each game.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

The Knicks are the best team to dance for because we have the best fans. Madison Square Garden is the mecca of basketball, and being a part of that New York swagger and energy can’t be beat.

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

I currently have two. The first is the Knicks’ very own Danilo Gallinari. He's Italian, just like me! The second is Baron Davis from the Clippers. This past summer six Knicks Dancers and Baron traveled to Mumbai, India to promote the NBA's high-energy mall tour. I really appreciated his intellect and concern for the big picture in life. He was very humble, and I think that's a valuable quality all NBA players should possess.

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

Next on my list would be to learn how to act. When I'm too old to dance, I want to start a family and finally be able to get a dog!

What’s the craziest thing a fan’s ever done to get your attention? In or out of stadium?

The craziest thing happened when I was greeting fans before a game, and a man asked to take a picture with me. When I said yes, he put his arm around me and told me not to get too close because he just farted.

When you’re not dancing, where can people find you?

My family owns a small business; so my husband and I run the plant where we manufacture air and grate filters. During the day I work there, and then head straight to practice or a game. Other than that, in my free time, I like spending time outdoors or rhinestoning anything and everything!

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

The Knicks have the most loyal fans in the NBA and are so much fun to perform in front of. There's always a big applause after our performances, which is incredibly rewarding! Also, being able to dance at The World's Most Famous Arena is unbelievable.

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

I'm going to have to go with Shaq on this one. When I danced for the Phoenix Suns last year, we were in the middle of practicing a routine when Shaq came in and started to imitate our dancing. A 7'1" large man dancing to a Hilary Duff song is pretty hilarious!
