Orlando Magic Dancers-

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

I was very excited when I got the opportunity to be a dancer for the NBA, because I had never done anything like that before. Now that I have reached that goal, I would like to continue to perform anywhere I can for as long as my body allows me to. Eventually, I want to open a dance studio, so that I can share my knowledge with young/and old aspiring performers.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

The Orlando Magic is a great team to cheer for because of the amazing people that make-up the Magic organization. Everyone truly cares about their jobs and they go above and beyond to make each season incredible. Jeanine and Cherie, our manager and assistant manager, take great care of the dancers, and they make sure that we look our best each and every night. From the coaching staff and players, to the security at the arena, everyone knows everyone and is friendly and happy to be there.

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

My all-time favorite NBA player is Orlando Magic's center Dwight Howard. I didn't know much about basketball until I started working for the Magic 3 years ago, and Dwight Howard is just explosive to watch in person. Not only is he a great player, he has fun on the court. He is always smiling, joking around with his teammates, and his success hasn't gone to his head. He is still just a crazy kid.

I've never really been injured in cheerleading, but I had a scare when during a cheerleading completion our tumbling sequence went out of whack, and I ended up kicking someone right in the head mid air, and landed on my neck. Luckily it was more of a scare then anything.

Bo Outlaw is the funniest guy! We would practice our routines and he would be on the side of the court dancing up a storm! He has retired from playing, but continues to work with the Magic as a community ambassador. He is such a positive role model, and the fans absolutely love him.

What's the craziest thing a dude's ever done to hit on you? In or out of stadium?

Orlando is a diverse city and we have players from all walks of life, so therefore the team is a great representation of the city. Yes, It was a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, and especially for the Orlando Magic! I want to accomplish all the things that are necessary to fulfill my performance heart. The hottest on-screen actress in my opinion is Kirsten Dunst. I just love her as an actress, and think she is adorable in all her films.

Jock or Nerd. Which one would you really rather settle down with?

Jock or Nerd? Hmm...? This is a funny question for me because I am one of the pickiest females out there, in a weird way. When I settle down, it's a must that he has a sports background and a passion for sports as much as I do. He also has to be intelligent, and not just with books but world and street smarts! Open-minded is the best word to use I guess! So a little of both. :)

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

The Orlando Magic are one of the best corporations to work for! There are so many reasons. We have a great group of girls and caring, organized and passionate coaches. We live in one of the best locations, and are surrounded by a family of passionate workers! We literally feel like a family here that grows every year! Besides all that, we have one of the best teams in the NBA! Who wouldn't want to be a part of that? Let alone be one of the dancers. :)

Orlando Magic Dancers-

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

My next dream in my dance career is to become a Radio City Rockette! Eventually I'd love to open up my own dance studio and share my passion of dance with young girls.

What’s the craziest thing a dude’s ever done to hit on you? In or out of stadium?

Well the craziest thing happened from a mom! Her and her son came to a Magic game and I greeted them as they walked in the doors, like we do at every game. I started an innocent conversation with the mom and she asked if I was interested in her son (thinking she was kidding). Jokingly I said no, and things took a really awkward turn. She grabbed my arm and tried to pry my phone number out of me for her son, who was just standing there watching the whole thing happen. That was pretty crazy, and a little scary!

When you’re not dancing, where can people find you?

I work full time, Monday-Friday, and then go straight to practices and games, so during the week I stay pretty busy. But I love to go shopping, do some cooking when I can, spend time with family and snuggle up with my amazing boyfriend. :)

My all-time favorite NBA player is Larry Bird! When I was little I always wore this gray Larry Bird shirt of my brother's, and just thought he was the coolest player! Plus my dad was a big fan of his!

Orlando Magic Dancers-

What’s the best and worst thing about being a NBA dancer?

The best thing about dancing for the NBA is being able to share my love for dance with the world! My job is to dance, cheer, travel, and interact with people who are there to cheer my team on. It's such an adrenaline rush when our team is on fire and the fans are on their feet cheering loud and proud, and to this day, I still find myself getting chills at the beginning of intros during the anthem. There is such a love for the Magic in our community, and I feel blessed to be representing an organization that can also give more than just basketball to our city. The worst thing about being a NBA dancer is having to find another job just as great when my body won't allow me to dance anymore!

Jock or Nerd. Which one would you really rather settle down with?

For me, a guy has to have a good mix of both of those qualities. The perfect guy in my eyes is athletic, intelligent, funny, and not afraid to show his softer side every now and then.

What’s the nightlife for you? Stay in and relax, or it’s the weekend, bring back college?

After a game, I'm too wound up to go home so I like to make a night of it and go out with the girls. Other nights, when the stress of the week sets in, I’ll be the first of my friends to stay in - ready to snuggle up on my couch with my blanket, kitties, and TiVo!

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

Because Orlando is a tourist city, we have a pretty broad range of fans. A lot of people come to our games from out of town, or even out of the country, and it could easily be their first NBA game ever. They're so excited to be there and also to meet us! During the NBA Finals last year, we had the best fans because they were so proud of how far we came. It was so exciting to see the entire city behind us with "Blue & White Ignite" signs, shirts, stickers, and themes everywhere! There is a buzz this year of how good we can be, and I can't wait to see us get to the NBA Finals again!

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

When I was younger and went to Magic games with my Dad, I loved watching Dennis Rodman because of his crazy hair! Now I love watching another great defensive player, our own Dwight Howard. My favorite Dwight moments include when he dunked in the 2008 All-Star Dunk Contest as Superman, and when he plays defense by blocking baskets during games!

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you've reached this, what's your next dream or goal?

Becoming a NBA Dancer was a dream come true! I definitely want to continue dancing with the team for a few more years. I don't think this job will ever get old! My goal is to graduate from college in 2010 with a double major in Finance and Management. I also want to continue growing as a dancer and choreographer.

What's the craziest thing a dude's ever done to hit on you? In or out of stadium?

One time a guy came up to me and said, "Hey arrest me, I'm a thief and I'm here to steal your heart." I thought it was pretty funny but definitely didn't work.

What's the nightlife for you? Stay in and relax, or it's the weekend, bring back college?

Well I am still in college so I have an excuse to go out and have some fun. I also like to stay in and relax on the weekends but there doesn't seem to be enough time for that with my busy schedule.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

The Orlando Magic is the best team to cheer for because we have such a great organization supporting us. They make us feel just as important as the team itself! Our players are great too! They make the games fun and exciting. Come to a game and you'll see!

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

Michael Jordan of course. He raised the bar for basketball. He is a legend!

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

Becoming a Orlando Magic Dancer has been one of the greatest accomplishments of my life! This is my fifth season with the Orlando Magic, and during that time I've been able to accomplish many goals. I would have to say that my next dream would be to eventually get married and have a family of my own.

What’s the worst cheerleading injury you’ve ever had?

I have been extremely fortunate to have had only minor injury from cheerleading and dance over the years... knock on wood! Did I mention that I'm superstitious?

What’s the craziest thing a dude’s ever done to hit on you? In or out of stadium?

Hmm… I don't think a guy has ever done anything really "crazy" to hit on me... Step it up boys!

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

Not only is our team incredibly talented, but they are also very likeable, down-to-earth guys with great personalities. The Orlando Magic organization, as a whole, is like one big family and I feel extremely blessed to be a part of it.

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

As far as retired players go, I would have to say Michael Jordan. He is a basketball legend and one of the greatest players in NBA history. In my opinion, the sport would not have been the same without him. However, my favorite active NBA player is Dwight Howard, a.k.a. Superman. He is a phenomenal player and has an incredible career ahead of him! Definitely a legend in the making!

It was probably a huge accomplishment to become a NBA dancer, now that you’ve reached this, what’s your next dream or goal?

Well I would say that my next dream was to be featured on Maxim.com, but I guess we can check that off the list now, too! Honestly, I would love to be the director of an NBA Dance Team some day; I've done this for quite a while and feel I have some great things to offer an organization.

What's the craziest thing a dude's ever done to hit on you? In or out of stadium?

Oh Lord ... I had a group of South American guys that came to a stretch of games with various "We Love Danielle" signs during one of my first years in the league. It was really flattering, until game 6 or 7, and then it just got creepy. Obviously this was "in game" ... if they followed me around, I probably would have got a restraining order.

When you're not dancing, where can people find you?

At the gym or the office. Given our rehearsal/game schedule, you get very good at time management. Work, gym, rehearsal/games ... I suppose this is way I'm a "stay in and relax" kind of girl.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

The organization is unlike any other I've ever worked for, and this is my third team in the NBA. It truly does feel like a family to be a part of the Orlando Magic organization, it makes it very easy to stand up and cheer when you feel like you're cheering for your family!

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player?

Since my first year in the league I've had a lot of admiration and respect for Vince Carter; I can't express the excitement when we acquired him in the off season. He's smart, athletic, and really fun to watch play, plus his showing at the NBA All Star Slam Dunk Competition in 2000 was my favorite of all time ... well, until Superman showed up a few years later.

What’s the best and worst thing about being a NBA dancer?

The best thing about being a NBA dancer is the opportunity to become an ambassador and mentor. I cannot express how rewarding it is to be looked up to by the youth and adults as well. If I motivate and inspire others in some way, then I’ve done my job! The worst thing about being a NBA dancer is the assumption that this is all we do and all we know how to do. Our resumes are far more extensive than meets the eye!

Who’s the hottest on-screen cheerleader?

My hottest on-screen cheerleader award goes to Mena Suvari in American Beauty. I’ll take blossoming rose petals emerging from my costumes any day!

When you’re not dancing, where can people find you?

When I’m not dancing, I usually spend time at home recovering! I enjoy listening to live bands, coffee houses for poetry; I also play flag football here and there.

Why is your team the best to cheer for?

Our team is the best to cheer for because our team has been a sleeper far too long! We have die hard fans… I’m talking killer! The games in Orlando have become quite intense since the NBA Finals. It’s literally a circus during quarter breaks and a celebrity death match if the refs issue a “questionable call.” Orlando has been the top provider in entertainment for years, so you’re guaranteed a memorable time!

Who is your all-time favorite NBA player? Why?

My favorite NBA player of all time is Mr. Dennis Rodman! Not one, but five NBA Championships under his belt. He was a killer rebounder, and a diverse individual with his own personal style and flair. He made his presence known on and off the court. To this day, he is still a force in worldly causes outside of basketball. I have to respect him for walking down the catwalk, partaking in the Pink Collection supporting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Just a theatrical, art loving soul! He was a character that was comfortable in his own skin, and I respect him for that!
