| Can you repeat that, Mr. Spencer? |
Just like kids, NASCAR drivers say the darnedest things. This week Mr. Excitement himself, Jimmy Spencer, added yet another chapter of quotable stupidity to his tome of idiocy. The same guy who once said, "They bombed Pearl Harbor, don't forget," (in reference to Toyota joining NASCAR) talked with NASCAR.com this week. Never one to disappoint, racing's favorite boorish brute let loose in classic Spencer style.
NASCAR.com: What is one thing your fans don't know about you?
Spencer: They don't know that I'm not a fighter.
Track Marks: Hmm¿Kurt Busch and a couple of cops in North Carolina might disagree.
NASCAR.com: What are some of your favorite all-time flicks?
Spencer: I think The Godfather is the best, with the family values there.
Track Marks: Family values? I guess if you consider murder, corruption, extortion, spousal abuse, and fratricide to be family values, The Godfather is the new moral compass.
NASCAR.com: What's the most embarrassing moment that you'll own up to, either in or out of racing?
Spencer: I had made a comment about my wife, Pat. And it was about how dumb she was for marrying me, or something like that. But for me, it was embarrassing and it always bothered me that I had said it¿because she would be an old maid by now if she didn't marry me.
Track Marks: Jimmy feels bad about calling his wife stupid a few years ago, yet saying she's ugly today? Just fine. Also, what does it say about Jimmy that he believes that if he hadn't married his wife, nobody else would have bothered? You got a real catch there, Mrs. Spencer. It's so nice to have someone say such kind things about you.
Personally, I'm glad Jimmy has a ride for this week's race¿NASCAR isn't the same without the xenophobia and spite that Jimmy offers. Plus, it opens an interesting race-within-the-race contest this week. Who will wreck Kurt Busch first: Spencer, Kevin Harvick, or Matt Kenseth? My money's on Spencer. He'll put Busch into the wall before lap 300¿and offend an entire race of people by lap 24.
