"It wasn't an easy decision to make. I want to have a best chance to win the Stanley Cup. I feel like Detroit is the team." - Marian Hossa
Last season, just before their big playoff push, the Pittsburgh Penguins signed coveted goal-scorer Marian Hossa, who had been toiling in the league dungeon known as the Atlanta Thrashers. Hossa sparked with his new team, and helped propel them into the Stanley Cup Finals against the formidable Detroit Red Wings.

Hossa led all Penguins in scoring in the Finals, but the Big Red Machine from Motor City proved too much for the young Pens and the Cup was draped in red and white instead of black and gold.
Rather than resigning with the Penguins in the off-season, Hossa looked around, saw names like Evgeni Malkin, Marc-Andre Fleury, and Sidney F-ing Crosby and thought to himself, "Nah, this team's a fluke. No way they're going to the dance again. Besides, check out how green that grass is!"

So he played the mercenary card, took a "win a Stanley Cup free" discount from Detroit, and signed with the Wings.
Waah-WAAAAAAAH.
Signing with Big D certainly got Hossa another shot at Stanley, but…what's this? Oh, right, the Pens are back, too.
Hmmm…nothing like a little extra pressure, huh, Marian? Better hope the Penguins either have a short memory or a sudden reluctance to pump in roughly 5 or 6 goals a game like they've been doing.
Good luck, man…

Sounds to me like you know very little about this game, Sidney Crosby is a young talent, how many cups has Sid hoisted ? The Red Wings are an unselfish, hard working and deep team that will eventually prevail over the Penguins. Too much depth and grit. Watch it and weep,... maybe you'll learn something.

Hey Mccraney... How many cups has Sid hoisted? Please! The guys is still only 21, but scoring when it matters most, talking to the media like a person far more seasoned then his age and playing like a true leader of a "team." We watched him make Ovie look like fool and it's this year that Sid the kid will hoist the cup and bring Lord Stanley back to the Steel Town. We iron city workers remember a thing from the 80's called "City of Champions" and with the Steelers already taking care of biz it's only 4 wins away from the Pens doing their part. Gretzky won his first cup during his 4th year and it looks like someone else has a chance to do the same. I say Pens in 6. See you later jagoff.

I don't know why when anyone mentions Pittsburgh Penguins, everyone just thinks Sidney Crosby. Sure, he is the team captain, and he is a great player, but he is not as good as Evgeni Malkin. Anyone who wants to argue this first go check the stats for the '08-'09 hockey season.
Lets start with points, here are the top three:
1. Evgeni Malkin (PIT) 113
2. Alexander Ovechkin (WAS) 110
3. Sidney Crosby (PIT) 103
Oh look Malkin is first, Crosby is third.
Now goals, neither made the very top of the list:
Evgeni Malkin (PIT) 35
Sidney Crosby (PIT) 33
Oh look, Malkin got more goals, can you guess who has more assists?
1. Evgeni Malkin (PIT) 78
2. Sidney Crosby (PIT) 70
Malkin did.
Malkin also has a +/- of +17
Crosby has a +3
Not only does he have more on the scoreboard, he is better at playing the physical game. Like I said Crosby is a great player, I hope he does well especially since I'm Canadian and I like to see other Canadians succeed but I'm sick of Crosby this and Crosby that when he is the second best player on the tam.

No disrespect to Malkin, but let's look at the playoff stats:
GP G A P +/- PIM PP
71 C Evgeni Malkin 17 12 16 28 3 22 5
87 C Sidney Crosby 17 14 14 28 12 12 5
Looks like Sid is the more complete player. Plus he is a captain, leader and face of hockey. Malkin shows up when he wants to and is not the complete package that Crosby is.
now let's look at regular season stats:
Evgeni Malkin 82 35 78 113 17 80 14 2 4 290 12.1
Sidney Crosby 77 33 70 103 3 76 7 0 3 238 13.9
Sidney played 5 less games and scored only 2 less goals, had 8 less assists and 10 less points. If the stats are accurate I'd say Crosby is again the more productive player. If he had played those 5 additional games, I think it's safe to assume he would have been the leader in goals and fairly close in assists. Malkin might have him in +/-. Either way, they are both great and I hope will win the cup this year.
GO PENS!

Red Wings will win this and Hossa can get to hoist the cup. The refs and Bettman are trying hard to cheat for the Pens with letting them have extra players on ice and not call penalties but Crosby the golden boy of hockey will have to wait for his chance. GO RED WINGS!!!!!!! REPEAT!!!
