Our annual hit list of the nation's most tragic squads.

10. Michigan
Cream puffs may pad their record, but most of the Big 10 will eat up Big Blue.
9. Baylor
The Bears’ losing squad returns 18 starters, but their schedule is murder.
8. Texas A&M
Went a dismal 0-5 against the Big 12 South last year.
7. Washington
Even star QB Jake Locker can’t save the Huskies.
6. Mississippi State
New coach Dan Mullen brings Florida’s offense—but none of its players.
5. Indiana
Dumped their best player with no one to replace him.
4. Iowa State
These Cyclones will really blow against the Big 12.
3. Duke
The back-to-back Worst 10 champs ain’t called Dookies for nothing.
2. Washingon State
Problem-free! Except at QB, RB, WR, and OL, that is.
1. Syracuse
The Orange have gone 10-37 over the past four years. Time to reward their hard work.

Maybe you didn't get the full MICH roster which includes Tate Jonathan Forcier & Denard "Nard Dogg" Jonathan Robinson. MICH wins 8 games this year. BOOK IT MAXIM.
BOOM MALLETTED.

Michigan will be alot better this year. They were bad last year with all new coaches and systems with 8-9 guys turning pro from the year before.
GO BLUE!!!

no wonder I don't hear of this site for anything other than cheesecake (kind of sad I clicked on the link to see this journalistic feat of prognostication).
please.
power down and take a peek outside at the real world once in a while.

Syracuse #1? What would that make Notre Dame then since they lost to the Orange at home last year?

Syracuse is now finally heading in the right direction. Anew coach that wants to be here and win by shedding dead wood in the system. Greg paulus to help the qb's of the future. A transfer running back that was going to start at Central Florida. And SU's always has great kickers. This along with some strong verbal commitments for the 2010 class will put Syracuse on the track back to be a force once again in the BCS. Remeber this Rutgers, if coach P had'nt gotten fired Ray Rice which put you on the map would have been at SU.

Duke and Syracuse will be vastly improved this season. Expect Paulus to start for the Orange, and Duke to go 6-6 or better.

If Ray Rice this or that has nothing to do with the story. It's about how bad Syracuse has become. Stop trying to misdirect people for the facts... SU s*cks.

I can't believe you have Michigan on here. They had a rough season last year, but ya gotta do some research about the upcoming team. They are gonna have a great year and you'll be eating your words!

Coach Robinson from Syracuse went to the Big Blue to coach the defence. They're finished! Where is N.D. on the list they out-right stink

OK, I will agree with Iowa State (since they have a new coach) and even A&M (2nd year coach with a lot of rebuildin). But Baylor? They have a history of being the Big 12 cellar dwellers but dont count them out this year. They will be competetive with most teams on their schedule, and as a Tech fan, I am a bit scared myself.

Don't worry, Baylor won't be on your list next year, after they go bowling this season. Expect Robert Griffin to be on a lot of Heisman contender lists in 2010. I guess you didn't look at a lot of the scores of our losses from last year from Baylor's schedule, they were pretty close (@UConn 28-31, @Nebraska 20-32, Missouri 28-31, @Tech 28-35). Sic 'em

The artile is lazy journalism... You have SU at #1 due to Coach Robinson running them into the ground (citing past), and that part is valid... but the article also ignors anything SU has done since (i.e. new coaching staff, players, etc).. SU will be much better... not great, but significantly better.

whoever wrote this needs their head checked. Michigan is not in the top 10 worst teams in college football. you are talking about the winningest team in college football, who had their worst season in history last year during a MAJOR transition with no one to run the offense. If I was a betting man, I would say there won't be a repeat of last year anytime soon for that program - especially with a top 10 recruiting class to replace the void left by basically the entire offense going pro.

Maxim is a terrible magazine that writes terrible articles. Why should anyone pay attention to one-liners with no facts to back up their brainless assertions? I'm ashamed to have wasted 2 mins reading this article and writing this comment.

The author of this must be a huge Buckeye fan or a compete idiot to put Michigan on this list and I don't even particularly like Michigan. Don't bother going all the way back to 2008 when Michigan beat Tim Tebow and the mighty Gators in the Capital One Bowl. Then go back a record number of times in regards to consecutive bowl games. And the comment about the cream puff schedules??? Last year they played the number 2 team in the country in Utah and Notre Dame before conference play.
