Super Bowl Tailgating Banned by the Fun Police (and the Real Police)

How are we ever going to get ready for some FOOOOTBALL?

In an effort to make the whole world unfair, the Super Bowl committee has chosen to disallow tailgating at this year’s Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. During a press conference yesterday the committee announced, “You will be allowed to have food in your car and have drink in your car, and provided you’re in the boundaries of a single parking space, you’ll be able to eat or drink right next to your car. However, you’re not going to be able to take out a lounge chair, you’re not going to be able to take out a grill, and you’re not going to be able to take up more than one parking space. And it’ll all be watched very carefully.”

Not that any of us here at Maxim are above having some sad drinks in the backseat of a janky station wagon (with a designated driver, of course. Who we like to call “Mom,” also of course), but the fact that they are Big Brother bullying the crowds into not taking a single bite or sip outside the confines of their vehicles seems to be against the whole ethos of football.

On top of all that, passengers won’t be able to be dropped off at the game by a taxi or limo (or, you know, mom), and they will not be permitted to walk into the game. The only people allowed in – tickets or not – will be those who have a parking pass and those who take public transportation. Just in case making it to the Super Bowl wasn’t hard enough already.
