Brooke Burke is part Traveling Wilbury and part Iggy Pop: The bronzed beauty has circled the world and looks great in leather. Brooke was a model with hopes of becoming a news anchor when she stumbled into a gig on E!’s rock ’n’ roll travel show, Wild On. There was a time when the mention of Brooke’s name would conjure up images of her gallivanting to some Mediterranean hot spot and talking to very tan, very attractive, very drunk people. But that was then.
Today, Brooke is teaming up with cohost Dave Navarro for another season of the hit reality show Rock Star, and she is the star of a string of hugely successful Burger King spots featuring her in a skimpy bikini cavorting with your favorite freaky corporate mascot. Brooke continues to explore pop culture’s wild and woolly frontier, and we’re happy just to sit back and watch.
STUFF: Is it us, or is the Burger King dude terrifying? Brooke: He is a little creepy. When we first started working together, I wasn’t quite sure how to communicate with him, but we developed such a relationship that now I have a blast. You know, the first time I’ve ever felt completely invisible was with him. We went to a Lakers game, and it was as if I didn’t even exist. If I ever want to lay low, I know who to take with me.
STUFF: Were you a little jealous? Brooke: It was great! Sometimes it’s cool to have no one know who you are.
STUFF: How did you prepare for your role as a sesame-seed bun in the Burger King commercial? What was your motivation? Shit. I didn’t use my method training! [Laughs] After that commercial came out, I went to pick my daughter up from preschool, and the little kids were shouting, "We saw your mommy in a hamburger!" And I thought, Now I know I’ve truly arrived. I’ve done a lot of interesting things in my life, but now I can say I’ve played a sesame-seed bun. Now I’ve really made it!
