Growing up on a farm in small-town Missouri might not be the conventional fast track to success, but it has worked out pretty well for actress April Scott. You might recognize her as briefcase model No. 14 on Deal or No Deal, but this beauty is more than just a number. This winter, Ms. Scott gets her first starring role in The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning, where she morphs from a young, awkward Daisy Duke into the jean shorts–sportin’ hottie we all know and love. Check out April’s thoughts on farm life and some awesomely dirty outtakes from the movie.
STUFF: You were raised on a farm in southeastern Missouri. Did that make filming this down-home movie easier? APRIL: I definitely think so, because a lot of the stuff was filmed on a working farm, and there’s a lot of hay and dirt and horses. Since Daisy was a tomboy in the movie, I had to do a lot of things like painting, cleaning engines and actually working on the car. It was really easy, because I was a tomboy growing up. None of that stuff bothered me.
Did you feel a lot of pressure to fill Jessica Simpson’s boots? Well, I think we kind of got off easy because it was a prequel. We weren’t trying to be anybody or re-create the first movie. We were just basically trying to bring ourselves to the characters.
