What it is: Helm’s Muller boots, $389

Why we like it: As many American companies take their manufacturing overseas, Helm Boots is doing the opposite. After years of crafting its high-quality footwear in Turkey, the folks at Helm, with its design team in Austin, Texas, decided to make all of boots in Maine.  The Muller features a full-grain oil tan leather upper from the SB Foot Tannery in Red Wing, Minnesota, and is the kind of rugged boot that starts to looks better as it ages.
