Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Destroys Innocent Piston With Monster Dunk

We'll say it: slam of the year.

Charlotte Bobcats rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist powered home a vicious dunk on Detroit Pistons big man Greg Monroe on Wednesday night.

And based on the springs MKG displayed, it's clear that the recent revelation that he lost a game of one-on-one to 50-year-old Bobcats owner Michael Jordan has lifted a great weight off of his shoulders.

Either that, or he did a whole lot of Jordan film study after his embarrassing defeat. Whatever the case, the posterizing slam clearly tapped into something Jordan-esque.

Just like his boss used to to do, MKG followed up his spectacular offensive play by getting the job done on the other end, Ball Don't Lie tweeted:

"
For those of you fawning over Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's dunk over Greg Monroe, also note that he guarded and blocked Greg's next shot."

After appearing to hit the rookie wall—Kidd-Gilchrist had been averaging just 3.8 points per game in February—he appears to have decided to jump over it. Good strategy.

Perhaps the most enjoyable aspect of the play came afterward, as the Kentucky product openly marveled at the scoreboard replay of his high-flying smash. You've got to love a guy who appreciates highlights, even when they're his own.
