How You Know Her: After rising to prominence in the Independent Spirit Award-winning 1997 film High Art, Radha has popped up in everything from a Vin Diesel sci-fi grunt-a-thon (Pitch Black) to a Woody Allen comedy (Melinda and Melinda). Most recently, she's been seen as a sexy FBI Fembot helping (or is she?) Bruce Willis solve a murder mystery in Surrogates--which is set in a future world were people stay at home while their flawless robotic avatars go about their daily business for them. Steve Jobs, get on this ASAP.
On her Surrogates Robot Body: "Do I like the look of her? Yes, I do. It was open to discussion as to what she would look like – and everybody had something to say about it. You know what? It was an interesting process to be dissected on that level. Should the teeth be whiter? Should the hair be straighter? It was weird to go through the process of creating a more perfect-looking version of oneself. I guess I’d never experienced that before."
On Action: "I have one action sequence, which was a lot of fun to shoot. I had to drive around downtown Los Angeles on the top of a bus – and my character had to jump from the bus to a car. It was all done in purple high heels, too. That’s the only way to do action scenes!"
On Sci-Fi: "I’m a fan of Bladerunner and classic sci-fi films – and I’m in tune with sci-fi, but I wouldn’t say I was the hugest fan of the sci-fi genre. I find many sci-fi films very interesting, though."
Surrogates arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray today. So get yourself a copy right now.
