Carrie

A new, supposedly improved Carrie pops up on NBC just in time for—well, actually, a little after Halloween. The story is more or less the same as the original: girl has religious fanatic–psycho mom, girl gets made fun of at school, girl loses it and unleashes telekinetic hell after prom joke goes too far. Angela Bettis’ yawn-inspiring Carrie doesn’t ignite our interest until the shaking and convulsing that signal her mental outbursts begin. When she isn’t moving shit with her mind, Carrie is just another alienated teen getting picked on—although one that gets picked on in the girls locker room a lot, which isn’t so bad.
