As Buffy the Vampire Slayer moves to UPN, the WB has found a worthy replacement to fill the supernatural niche. The premise is kooky: A rock band stumbles upon a magical amulet giving them the power to see troubled ghosts who need the bands help to move on to the next world. But, believability aside, the show manages to be both intelligent and funny in the way that The X-Files was before Mulder was replaced by the T-1000. Dead Last also wisely avoids logical comparisons by acknowledging them, referring to Scooby Doo and Ghostbusters as their adventures prove paranormal.
With no logical end in sighta ghost in the first episode informs the band that they will have the amulet until they diewe hope Dead Last will haunt us for a long time.
