Like the barefooted California gold diggers from whom the exclamation originated, Eureka is meticulous and plugs along with toothless determination—plus, costar Matt Frewer looks as if he smells. Car troubles land U.S. Marshal Jack Carter in the town of Eureka, where science nerds are plentiful and trippy visions are as frequent as they are in Boulder, Colorado (only without the herbal aid). Colin Ferguson (Jack) is lead banana of the all-understated-comedy ensemble, without which the Eureka conspiracies would be only a sleep-inducing monotonous voice away from treading on X-Files' shiny black loafers.
