The two-part miniseries Firestarter: Rekindled tries to pick up the pieces from where Stephen King’s Firestarter left off. The action centers around our heroine Charlie McGee (Marguerite Moreau) finally giving up her life on the run in turn for the truth behind the government experiments that gave her psychic powers. After some intricate plot details are resolved (read: flashback after flashback) the movie finally gets going. With middle-of-the-road action scenes—and a protagonist looking a little too much like Jonathan Silverman for our liking—the plot bogs down from time to time. However, with Malcolm McDowell as a sinister villain and Dennis Hopper as the “half-mad” professor willing to help McGee, it’s not all bad. Just be happy the four-hour event is split into two nights.
