In Texas, Friday nights are for high school football and high school football players feeling up cheerleaders post-game. Now the rest of us can share in that holy tradition with the series adaptation of the movie of the same name. In small town Texas, where Larry the Cable Guy is a Rhodes scholar, the high school football players are local celebrities with a reputation for being the best team in the country. With fame comes temptation and benefits the subversive assortment of good ol' boys need to consider for their college prospects. Lights takes a filming cue from its big brother, lingering on inanimate objects for an independent movie appearance. The action continues off the field as well: Backstabbing beauties do battle to earn their free ticket out of Texas with similar intensity as the well-planned pigskin play, unlike the latest edition of the Miami Hurricanes offense.
