Eight episodes into the fifth season, we find our crew and their +1 Ari Gold seemingly going their separate ways.
What Happened Last WeekAri was confronted by Warner Bros. and offered the now deceased Alan Gray's job. On the one hand, he can take the job and put Vinnie in the movie right away. On the other hand, he'd have to give up representing the actor who he helped make a name for. What will Ari choose? It's still up in the air, but agency rival Dana Gordon wants in as his No. 2 if he does take the new gig.
Vinnie was back on the road to regaining his name in Hollywood following the Medellin disaster, palling around with the runway girls at a Dolce & Gabbana fashion show. After schmoozing with the show's requisite eye candy, Vinnie is introduced to Natasha, who appears to already have ridden the Chase train (or maybe she was–gasp!–just a friend?). After Vinnie agrees to make an appearance at the show, Natasha suddenly quits, seemingly to stay away from him. We find out later that the director of the fashion show, Freddy, wanted to pay Vince $1 million to sleep with him. Yowsers. We last see the crew boarding a plane to Hawaii with Natasha and a gaggle of models when they run into Ari Gold, who is similarly taking a trip to get away from it all with Warner Bros.' big boss. Vince finds out about Ari's dilemma and looks similarly distressed about potentially losing his agent.
What To Expect Tonight (preview video here)Ari receives a $10 million job offer from John Ellis, the man looking to hire him as his new Warner Bros. Studios exec. Lloyd, not ready to let his verbally abusive boss from jumping ship, attempts to dissuade Ari, but increasing stupidity at his current agency is pushing him further and further out the door. Ari sets up a meeting with Ellis at his office to close the deal.
Prediction: Ari sees that Dana Gordon really, really wants in on a Warner Bros. executive position and will use that to his advantage. Expect pass on the job and recommend her for the position in exchange for her favor in putting Vince in future movies.
Vince, frustrated by Ari's dilemma and his own situation, gets back into civilization after his weekend hiatus in Hawaii with models. The Co.'s attempts at landing their star a movie deal are futile as they are pushed into offers for TV roles. Turtle seems to make out pretty well, meeting a girl, yes a REAL girl, on the plane back.
Prediction: Once again, the gang is left to kind of just sit back and wait on Ari's decision. It may be a couple more episodes before the boys are back in the main storyline–other than getting rejected for another movie–but for now, we'll just have to make due with this short side story that will probably end with Ari's choice this week.
