The month of May is usually a time of Big Stars on TV; ratings are more important than usual (ad pricing is determined in May, and November), and networks want to cram in as many big-time people and shows before things get sunny and snoozy in the lazy summer months.

It's no surprise, then, to see Eminem hitting Jimmy Kimmel twice this week. The Detroit rapper already played Kimmel this past Friday, famously flying in 200 laid-off auto workers for the event. This week, he's back for more, and not just more performing: the listing for Tuesday's Kimmel details a "panel and performance by 9-time Grammy winner Eminem." Sounds serious! Perhaps other panelists will include noted roundtable chatters George Will and/or Em's fellow Michigander, The Five People You Meet In Heaven author Mitch Albom. The panel will be followed by refreshments in the lobby.

Peeping the other shows, Letterman, as he does every week, straddles the line between indie majors and major majors, giving us White Rabbits and Grizzly Bear (pictured above), along with Kenny Chesney and Green Day. Leno, in his penultimate week, gives us a double shot of the newly-reunited Blink-182, as well as appearances from Mandy Moore, who's got a new album, and Tori Amos, who's also got a new album, as well as a bunch of good older albums.

And a tip of the cap once again to Last Call With Carson Daly, the little very-late show that could: Keane, The Kills and Glasvegas all in one week. Enjoy, anglophiles (and, erm, Scot-ophiles).

This week's video is from a small Southern soft-rock band called Mastodon. They visited Letterman last week to perform a hushed, acoustic number. Actually—they blew the roof off the place. Dave: "I won't lie to you—I'm frightened."
