In case you weren't able to break away from all of the Leno/Conan back-and-forth on the news networks, the ninth season of American Idol premiered last night. And while we're sure millions upon millions tuned in to see who made the cut (and most memorably, who didn't), this year's female contestants have a lot to live up to when it comes to sultry songbirds who have graced the live stage in years past.
