In the ongoing television exploitation of hospital drama and on the heels of Houston Medical, ABC is coming out with another reality hospital show, this time focusing on the intensive care unit at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. The fact that these men and women feel comfortable performing such complex operations with cameras all around is astonishing. The show documents heart transplant operations, also focusing on the patients and their families. Very emotional stuff, but even with such powerful material, the show rushes through its stories and at some points tends to glaze over the tragic events that unfold. For a show with such gripping material, the overall product isn’t that spectacular.
