This fun retrospective chronicles the tiny studio that saved the studio system. On a shoestring budget, with director Roger Corman, American International Pictures created nearly 500 movies. Campy “classics” like I Was a Teenage Werewolf, Beach Blanket Bingo, and Wild in the Streets were spawned by a success story that would have made Ed Wood weep.

It Conquered Hollywood is a tribute to popular entertainment, and it ignores any criticism of the American International’s “quantity over quality” approach. The clips and interviews are enthusiastic and hilarious, including early Jack Nicholson, rubber monsters, and beach blanket bikini bunnies.
