Locusts

Lucy Lawless trades in her leather skirt for an entomological degree in this TV thriller about a superbreed of locusts that threaten America's food supply and, more importantly, your car's windshield. The buzzing starts when a misguided scientist's biologically-enhanced insects escape his lab—why is it always the life-threatening experiments that go wrong?—and the pesky pests treat the heartland like Kirstie Alley treats buffets. Luckily, modern-day warrior princess…er, we mean USDA voracious insect expert, Dr. Maddy Reirdon (Lawless), is on hand to combat the insects and stop the U.S. military from gassing the Midwest. (The red states win again!) Unfortunately, the superbugs aren't of the flesh-eating variety, and the effects are of the made-for-TV variety, leaving Locusts slightly more thrilling than a lonely night on the porch watching the bug zapper.
