Cops are lazy. Cops are stupid. Cops dress up like hookers on their day off. Reno 911! isn’t exploring any new territory here, but it sure as hell is hilarious. Alumni from MTV’s quirky cult classic “The State” help comprise the cast that pounds cop stereotypes deep into the ground—and unearths some new ones while they’re there. Follow along as local troopers roam the dangerous streets of Reno, Nevada, and encounter an endless string of weirdos in this Cops spoof. And while the wackos out on the streets pose some of the problems, intersquad racial and sexual tensions create plenty more delirious drama back at the station. Liberal vocabulary (you want racial slurs, you got ’em!), touchy subjects (gay people, cross-dressers, straight people), and an easy show to pick on (hey, it came from Fox) make Reno as outrageous as a cop beating a mime for not talking. And as funny as a cop beating up a foster child for not having any parents.
