As Six Feet Under draws to a close, a new seriocomedy is arriving to take its place in our hearts and our TiVo units. The Mind of the Married Man takes a dramedic look at coupled life, with the action split between Mickey’s (played by creator Mike Binder) home life and his time spent shooting the shit with his married work buddies. Some of the fantasy moments, à la Dream On, are worthy of a chuckle, and the dialogue is often clever, but just like a manic-depressive circus clown, the show is occasionally dull and depressing. Plus, once you watch this in-depth look at the trials of marriage, with the fights, the temptations, and the same old thing day in and day out, you may want to—if you haven’t already—commit yourself to a lifetime of bachelorhood.
