Farscape, at first glance, looks like a roundup of the usual suspects: A villain named Scorpius, a human hero in uncharted space, and a bunch of funny looking aliens with blue heads and weird tentacles. But unlike a lot of space operas, theres no military hierarchy among these characters. You cant just look for the fanciest uniform to figure out whos in charge. Good sci-fi is supposed to make you think; this show also asks you to pay attention.
Once a viewer gets on board, Farscape is worth the time. The JimHenson Creature Shop creates an exotic look, the stories are innovative, and the acting is solid. Its not a reinvention of the genre, but it is a nice addition.

"this show also asks you to pay attention."
But don't pay too much attention. If you do, you will realize that the rules for wormhole travel are inconsistent. In one episode, several people die from wormhole travel because of the radiation. In another, Crichton body surfs though a wormhole. In some, the wormhole has to be navigated by a pro, in others, people who barely know what a wormhole is go through one.
