Farscape (Season 3 Premiere)

Farscape, at first glance, looks like a roundup of the usual suspects: A villain named Scorpius, a human hero in uncharted space, and a bunch of funny looking aliens with blue heads and weird tentacles. But unlike a lot of space operas, there’s no military hierarchy among these characters. You can’t just look for the fanciest uniform to figure out who’s in charge. Good sci-fi is supposed to make you think; this show also asks you to pay attention.

Once a viewer gets on board, Farscape is worth the time. The JimHenson Creature Shop creates an exotic look, the stories are innovative, and the acting is solid. It’s not a reinvention of the genre, but it is a nice addition.
