Not a major fan of The Learning Channel? You will be. Any guy who’s ever stared, drooling, at the ending of an A-Team episode (since they all end in welding) or fancied himself a suburban MacGyver will love Junkyard Wars. This British import (like all good things) has humor, heavy machinery, and horsepower.

Despite its UPN-style title, Junkyard Wars is all about brains. Two teamsof motorhead geeks, with expertise they liberally share, build competingmonstrosities out of gutted Fords and Honda motorbikes. In the North Americanpremiere, they race “frankensteined” dune buggies to a fun, mud-soakedending.

The resulting mayhem may have your family carefully talking you out of thetoolshed Sunday afternoons.
