You’ll see more animation on MTV this season. Why is that a good thing? Two little words: Jesse Camp. As the one-time music video channel finds ever more vapid live personalities to wear its sponsors’ clothes, animated characters seem downright lifelike. Joining new episodes of the admirably snarky Daria and the gonzo Celebrity Deathmatch, Spy Groove is MTV’s edgiest animated effort since Liquid Television’s sexy Aeon Flux.

Agents No. 1 and No. 2 are on a mission to “spank the bottom of the global trend-setting A-list,” eradicating bad style wherever they find it. In rapid-fire dialog peppered with designer names, the show comes this close to biting the hand that feeds it, sending up its audience’s addiction to style.
