Cleopatra 2525 Season 2 Premiere

If you could have changed one thing about The Matrix, what would it have been? Replace Keanu Reeves with Victoria Pratt and two other bikini babes, natch. Now serve that up in weekly half-hour installments, and you’ve got Cleopatra 2525.

It is the apocalyptic distant future. Humanity has been driven underground by flying sentient robots, but a secret resistance movement is determined to reclaim the surface world. Lethal weapon Pratt plays Sarge, with a roundhouse kick as deadly as her sinewy figure; Gina Torres is the statuesque Hel; and Jennifer Sky plays Cleopatra, a 21st-century exotic dancer recently awakened from cryogenic sleep.

Produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, who practically invented the screwball action genre with Hercules and Xena, Cleopatra knows what it is: a solidly entertaining goof. If nothing else, watching these women try to fight killer robots while wearing thongs and high-heel boots is a great way to kill a half hour.
