When a college student (Julianne Nicholson) is troubled by horrifying visions of the restless dead, she assumes that shes going insane. But before you can say electro-convulsive therapy, the coed Kreskin is approached by the Others, a group of similarly gifted psychics who recognize her ability to see the afterlife.
Series creators John Brancato and Michael Ferris first hit it big in film with taut thrillers like The Game and The Net. Executive producers Glen Morgan and James Wong collaborated on many of the creepier episodes of The X-Files. You can see those influences here in the shows tight pacing and matter-of-fact ease in revealing weirdo phenomena to a television audience. As The X-Files winds down to a sad, half-hearted farewell, The Others, which premiered February 5, could fill the need for a hip, smart new sci-fi/fantasy series.
