If they wait long enough, through years of successful stand-up specials, bit parts in movies, and regular late-night talk show appearances, a comedian will eventually wind up with his own sketch comedy show. And that’s when things usually head south. Now it’s Dave Chappelle’s turn, and he’s trying to change all that. He sets the tone early with an accidental boob shot blooper, then steers into dangerous, but still funny, territory when he plays a blind, black white supremacist (yes, the “N” word gets thrown around liberally). We just hope Comedy Central will keep Chapelle on “regular ass TV” long enough to give his show a chance to survive. Otherwise, it’s back to Conan.
