NBC needs another drama from the halls of justice like TV needs another reality show from halls of Fox. But The Lyons Den has something that all of those other Law & Order rehashings dont: Rob Lowe. Hot off chapter eight in the David Caruso Handbook, Lowe flees the comfy confines of The West Wing for the relative obscurity of The Dens central character, John Jack Turner, a lawyer entrenched in a battle between his former pro bono clinic and the established firm that he now helps rook big-timers as a managing partner. Backstabbing and hidden pasts run so rampant that, rather than worrying about whos out for justice, we can concentrate on whos screwing whom. (These are lawyers were talking about.) Its not hard to make intriguing characters out of politicians and attorneys, and The Lyons Den milks its grimy characters for all of the subplots it can muster. All of our trips to court should be this satisfying.
