Potheads everywhere are waking from their mid-evening naps to laud the return of television’s wackiest law firm since Jacoby & Myers as Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law heads back to late-night court for a new season. For you newcomers, the show’s premise adheres faithfully to the Adult Swim formula: Take a has-been cartoon superhero, place him in alien surroundings, laugh your ass off, repeat. In this case, Harvey acts as legal counsel representing classic ’toons. The season premiere finds Mr. Birdman defending Inch-High Private Eye and courting a new instructor at the gym; from there, everything’s fair game. Each 15-minute episode unfurls a barrage of bizarre comedic vignettes full of non sequiturs, multiple entendres, and Hanna-Barbara cameos. If you like strange and unrelenting humor, this is one court date we recommend showing up for on time.
