Wanted

Trying to keep up with the new, violent trend in televised cop dramas, Wanted suffers no shortage of cursing or gunshot mutilations—too bad the rest of the show is as gripping as a Dennis Franz ass shot. Gary Cole (Office Space) stars as the leader of an elite squad of crime fighters whose job is to take down L.A.'s 100 most wanted criminals—a rogue's gallery that includes drug dealers, child molestors, rapists, and political assassins. The show's hook is that each member of the team brings something unique to the group that aids them in nabbing bad guys: the new girl's a Naval intelligence officer; the ATF agent is a Christian hothead who needs to get laid; and Oz's Lee Tergesen owns a bar tended by Traci Lords. It's not exactly the Fantastic Four, but we're supposed to believe these skills empower the group of super friends to succeed where others have failed. While the gritless fare will fit in well with TNT's endless slate of Law & Order reruns, it doesn't stand a chance in a world where Michael Chiklis keeps kicking ass and taking Emmy nominations.
