Everyone in Vegas is packing heat and somehow Celine Dion remains lead free. The gunplay is bad news for James Caan, who ended last season with a blazing barrel aimed at his dome in a cliffhanger way too exciting for the ham-drama flaunting the Sin City spectacle. Quipping dialogue drops hard and humorless as if scripts were typed using the new program Microsoft Cliché. Arrogant millionaires, scheming CIA, and covert affairs are only poor film stock away from the soaps. The cast, dominated by smart-alecky girls like Vanessa Marcil and Nikki Cox—who might get paid in cosmetic procedures—were once adorably tolerable, but after three seasons have grown annoying just like girlfriend farts.
