The war on terror is never over, although it does take a few months off between seasons. Darwyn, an FBI agent fresh from thwarting a terrorist plot (see season one), is sucked back into his undercover role as a soldier of Islam scheming to teach a lesson to us infidels. A Muslim himself, Darwyn is determined to put a stop to fundamentalists doing harm in the name of Allah. Season two dips further into the struggle between "good" and "bad" Muslims giving supplemental details on circumstances leading the extremist's internal battle, not to endorse, but to humanize a group that choose to perform terrible acts. Cell prefers to make their villains individuals, contrasting to the clever yet essentially motiveless baddies of 24, so viewers have time to decide who to hate instead of being told.
