English comedians run the gamut from the riotously obnoxious Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) to the borderline retardation of Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) to the dry brilliance of Ricky Gervais. In the second season of Extras, things still don't go right for Andy Millman (Gervais) even when they do. After selling his sitcom, the lifelong background actor is on the verge of stardom yet still isn't given the respect he craves. Gervais is ensconced with a supporting cast that flourishes when playing uncomfortable. Extras is jam-packed with more squirm-worthy circumstances and guest stars willing to take it on the chin, like the over-the-top vanity of Orlando Bloom in the season opener. Although the baby-faced actor may just be method acting.
