Moonlight

We like vampires as much as the next guy, but we don't think they will ever find a home on network television. Angel started the good-vampire-hunts-bad-guys genre fairly well, but even that show was axed just as it found its stride. We'll be surprised if this one makes it that long. Because of the similarity to Angel it's impossible not to compare the two, and impossible to ignore how poorly Moonlight matches up. Mick St. John (Alex O'Loughlin) doesn't sleep in a coffin, actually likes garlic, and drinks "store-bought" blood supplied by his buddy at the morgue rather than kill innocent people. His past haunts him just enough to bring out the "dark" vampire when he needs it, but we'd rather he just choose a side. The one high point is cute and sometimes charming Sophia Myles as a gossip Web site reporter who has crossed paths with Mick in the past. Truth is, this show is a just a copy cat, taking pieces—usually the least interesting— from other vampire tales and the rest from CBS's stable of cop shows. This vampire is most definitely not immortal.
