There’s no business like show business—especially when it comes to shamelessly prostituting your kids out to six-and-under beauty pageants and pudding commercials. Showbiz Moms and Dads focuses on that rare breed of parent dedicated enough to exploit his or her offspring for financial gain before teaching them how to read. From averaging over $20,000 a year on headshots and entry fees to putting a four-year-old through makeup and spray-on tanning, this is parenting at its most perverted. Watch as a deranged mom insists her little girl “is enjoying herself” despite “missing quite a bit of school.” Auditions result in failure and scorn, talent shows end in tears (for son and mom), and everyone goes home unstable and insecure. This isn’t a model for raising a child, but it’s not a bad blueprint for arresting television.
