Dysfunctional sitcom families now come a dime a dozen, but you don't need any meds to survive a hilarious Halbert family outing. At the center is Cameron, played by Fred Goss, show creator and student of the Steve Carrell School of Deadpan, who can't seem to connect with his misfit son or please his hapless parents and sisters. Instead of relying on a fraternity of disgruntled Yalie writers, the partially improvised scripts demand that the actors work for their laughs—luckily, they almost always land their punch lines.
