George Lucas should be very, very nervous. Because in just 10 three-minute shorts, Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky blows Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones out of the water. To all the fans who’ve been bitching about the absence of the Clone Wars on the big screen, we say: Shut up and count your blessings. Wisely paring down the pretentious dialogue and having some much-needed fun instead, Tartakovsky crams in everything from badass underwater lightsaber battles to Black Hawk Down–inspired urban warfare—centered on a crack unit of elite Clone Troopers—into these bite-size action flicks. (The first 10 air on consecutive weeknights starting November 7, with an additional 10 coming in March.) The animation is slick, the battles nonstop, and the Anakin whining almost nonexistent. The gauntlet’s been thrown down, George: If you’re gonna save face, Episode III better kick some serious ass.
