Spike Lee shrugs off his creative slumpquick, name his last movie!to direct this gripping crime drama set in the streets of San Francisco. Sucker Free City centers around three men from three different sections of town, who enjoy three different lives of crime. Nick (Ben Crowley) is a white Mission District resident working in a corporate mailroom who steals credit card numbers; K-Luv (Anthony Mackie) is a member of the black gang V-Dub in Hunter's Point; and Lincoln (Ken Leung) is a Chinese mobster who makes collections as a bagman in Chinatown. Individually, their stories are compelling enough to make these criminals worth tracking. But when their business deals begin to infringe upon each other's respective turfs, Sucker Free City transforms from the portrait of a city divided by race and culture to a gritty drama exploring the danger and tragedy of life in the inner city. For the first time since Malcolm X, this is one Spike Lee joint we wouldn't mind hitting more than once.
