Does Chris Isaak, crooner extraordinaire, have the acting chops to carry his own show? Sort of. Hes got a ton of natural charisma, some sparkling writing on the show, and a great supporting cast to compensate for his relative inexperience. Hes obviously chosen his friends wiselyThe Chris Isaak Show is a blast.
Isaak plays himself here like Mr. Rogers as raised by Elvis. He approaches his strange sex life rather sweetly, insisting that men just want to be loved. In the premiere its a tolerable momenthe does, after all, say it to a luscious naked woman on a bed-like merry-go-round. Anyone who doesnt tune in for that alone, needs their pulse checked.
