More scientific than Ghostbusters and funnier than Ghostdad, this documentary on a haunted plantation–turned–guest lodge in Louisiana proves to be steeped a little too much in myth, and not so much in fact. The show checks accounts from various guests of the bed-and-breakfast—everyone from mental health professionals to church secretaries share their two cents—who (get this) still stay overnight at this inn despite their beliefs that it is indeed haunted. Too many times a noted “presence” or “sensation” is discussed instead of cold hard facts. Yeah, it’s difficult to provide data on such phenomenom as ghosts and spirits, but having to listen to professional “ghost trackers” fawn over their photographical evidence is a little trying—especially when the so-called “orbs” look like little more than a mirror’s reflection. At least a skeptic is thrown into the mix to voice many rational explanations to all of the psychic phenomena—and enough one-liners to provide more genuine laughs than Bill Cosby getting hit by a pudding pie.
