It used to be so much fun watching Film Threat editor Christian Gore misbehave at movie premieres and, when he could manage to get invited to them, press junkets. But what made Gores ballsy, Detroit-based movie mag more than just another regular guy zine was that Chris knew flicks. When he wasnt reviewing movies he was making them. And when he wasnt making them he was trying to hustle up the money to get his film back from the lab.
The old Film Threat is no more, but Gore continues to tweak the big studios both online at www.filmthreat.com and on the FX Networks New Movie Show. Running down each weeks new releases, Gore rides herd on an intellectual Thunderdome of critics, actors and filmmakers. Then, when everybody else has finished, Chris offers his opinion, mocks panelists who disagree with him, and goes immediately to a commercial. Cheap, yes, but would you behave any differently if it was your show?
Gore isnt the most polished of on-air personalities, but hes never gotten high marks for presentation. Film Threat was riddled with spelling errors and slapdash editing, but the wit still came through. Fortunately, the same holds true on the air. Now if only he could get the show on a real network.
